What is Search Engine Marketing (SEO) vs. Search Engine Optimization (SEM)?

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEM) are terms that describe related concepts that often overlap.

Search Engine Marketing is the process of developing and researching specific and targeted keywords designed to get your website recognized by major search engines.

Search Engine Optimization
is the process of taking the keywords researched in your SEM process and appropriately incorporating them into your website.

In theory, SEO cannot be properly achieved unless you have taken the time to research and develop your website specific keywords.
